East Lents Floodplain Restoration

Client: City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services (BES)

BES is restoring the floodplain along Johnson Creek in East Lents through a grant from FEMA. Designed to help mitigate nuisance flooding and to protect the surrounding urban renewal area while meeting the goals of the Portland Watershed Management Plan and the Johnson Creek Restoration Plan, the project will also return the creek to historic conditions. These improvements will enhance the wildlife habitat and help ensure that Johnson Creek meets Oregon Water Quality and Endangered Species Act standards. Construction will be completed in 2011.
